Scaevola Fan Magic™ Spellbinder
A dense low carpeting shrub (30cm H
x 75 cm W) with lush foliage and a lightly layering habit.
Plentiful spires of large purple-blue fan flowers arise
continuously in massed display amongst the foliage during
spring, summer and autumn, attractive to butterflies which hover
daintily above the equally dainty flowers.
It grows well in cool temperate to sub tropical and semi arid
climates; suited to full sun or dappled light, in well drained
clay or sandy loam soils, acid to lightly alkaline pH. Frost
hardy, and suitable for second line coastal situations.
Uses: plant as edging for pathways or paving; clustered
amongst rocky outcrops and in raised beds; as a spectacular
container plant for small gardens, patios or balconies, and is
highly decorative as a basket plant. Lasts well as a cut flower
in posies.
Maintenance: A light trim after flowering will quickly
re-establish a full plant with masses of new flowering spikes.
Feed in early spring or late summer with low phosphorus
controlled release fertilizer. If container grown, use best
quality potting medium, keep moist but do not over water.
