Prostanthera
Minty™
The Natural Air Freshener
A small to medium dense shrub (1 - 1.8m H x 1 - 1.2 m W), with
highly aromatic foliage continuously releasing a mint essence
into the atmosphere. A lavish display of violet flowers all
but hides the soft leaves throughout spring and early summer,
attracting butterflies and small insect-eating birds. It grows
readily in open sunny or semi-shaded sites, in moist but well
drained clay loams or moist sandy soils, neutral to acid pH.
Minty™ is hardy in cool temperate to sub tropical
climates and will tolerate light frosts.
Uses: Minty™ is perfect for formal shaping with
close trimming, or for low to medium hedging. Ideal for narrow
areas. Plant near pools, pathways or patios to enjoy its
fragrance, and as neat container plants on decks and terraces.
Fun topiaries can also be created. Flowers last well as picked
posies in water, and the foliage is a natural air freshener to
combat unpleasant odours.
Minty™ is clipped as hedge
surrounding a children's cubby house
Maintenance: Minty™ requires regular trimming if
hedged or if a formal appearance is desired. Light pruning may
be done in late summer after flowering. Feed lightly in early
spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release
fertiliser. Minimal watering only is required when
established; mulch around roots to maintain moist coolness and
to reduce watering.
