Isopogon Little
Drumsticks™
A small compact upright shrub
(30 - 65cm x 45 - 80cm) with intricate lobed foliage.
Multitudes of buds develop in summer, opening to golden mini
'protea' flowers in
winter and spring, attractive to honeyeaters and
insect-eating birds such as Scrub and Blue Wrens. Enjoys
full sun or light shade, in either well drained clay loams
or sandy soils, neutral to slightly acid pH.
Hardy in climates ranging from sub-tropical
to cool temperate. Will tolerate light frosts and suits
coastal gardens very well.
Uses:
Makes a showy display when
grouped in small garden beds and rockeries, or mass plant in containers
for dramatic effect on a patio or deck, or to decorate a
sunny courtyard.
Maintenance: trim off spent flowers, and lightly prune foliage if needed. Feed in early
spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release fertilizer.
If planting in a container, use a good
quality free-draining potting mix. Do not over water.

Use as a
spectacular accent plant in a terracotta pipe ... right by your front door.
