Xerochrysum

Everlasting™
PBR
Deep
gold and gleaming, the flowers will amaze you and last as
cut flowers for weeks.
A selection from a new breed of paper daisies or
everlastings, this perennial has clean bright foliage and
produces a mass of flowering stems from the base.

Each reaches 30-40cm high in a matter of weeks only. It
blooms all year round, and butterflies love to settle on the
glorious gold flowers. It adores full sun, or is happy in
light shade. Well drained sandy or clay loam soils are best;
neutral to slightly acid pH. It tolerates a remarkable range
of climates, from cool temperate to tropical and semi arid,
is extremely frost hardy and grows in coastal situations
too.

Uses:
A spectacular cut flower, either in water or cut at bud
stage and used for dried arrangements. Leave the flowers
to develop on the plant, and you have a real crowd stopper.
Plant in containers and arrange in groups on a sundeck or
patio for massed impact. In the garden, plant amongst heathland
or cottage garden mixtures.

Maintenance:
a heavy feeder, and loves a good dose of high phosphorus
controlled release fertilizer in spring and late summer.
Prune stems to ground level after winter to rejuvenate plants;
the response is rapid and surprising. Keep moist if grown
in containers, otherwise low water needs when established.

Like
alpine everlastings, these glorious burnished gold flowers
are the brightest imaginable. Hard to believe that this
plant was trimmed to its base six weeks prior to this photograph.
