Grevillea Cherry Ripe

Grevillea Cherry Ripe

A compact dense shrub (30 - 50cm high x 40 - 50cm wide) with soft grey-green foliage, and massed bunches of waxy cherry coloured flowers, magnets for honeyeaters from winter to spring.  Will thrive in temperate, sub tropical and semi arid climates, and does best in full sun though will tolerate light shade.  It will do well as a second line coastal plant, in sandy or well drained clay loams with added humus, neutral to acid pH, and is also very frost hardy.

Uses: Cherry Ripe may be grown as colourful dense hedge, in mixed plantings created especially for bird habitat, or planted as a single specimen in smaller gardens.  It makes a particularly showy long flowering container plant for sunny patios and courtyards.

Maintenance: a light trim after flowering is recommended, and regular trimming is required if grown as a hedge. Feed with controlled release low phosphorus fertilizer in late summer or early spring. Use best quality potting medium if planting in tubs, keep moist but do not over water.
