Isopogon Woorikee 2000 PBR
A dwarf compact shrub (50cm x
50cm) with attractive divided bronze-tipped foliage.
Intriguing buds develop in summer, opening to golden mini 'protea'
flowers in winter and spring, attractive to honeyeaters and
butterflies. Well suited to temperate, sub tropical
and semi arid climates, does especially well in full sun but
light shade is also acceptable, and requires moist well
drained loamy or sandy soils, neutral to slightly acid pH.
Will tolerate light frosts and is perfect for coastal
gardens.
Uses: Plant
in cottage gardens for borders or in mixed plantings; in
rock gardens for landscape impact, especially when mass
planted; and is a perfect year-round container plant for
both foliage and flower interest.
Maintenance:
Trim off spent flowers. Hard pruning in early summer will promote flowering over a
longer period. Feed with controlled release low phosphorus fertilizer in early spring or late
summer. In containers
it must have a free draining, slightly acid, low phosphorus
growing mix. Do not over water.
The Aboriginal name, Woorikee, refers to members of the Protea
family from which nectar can be obtained. This plant is named
in celebration of the Bicentennial Year 2000 and in
recognition of Aboriginal culture.
