La Belle™ Hibiscus

La Belle™ Hibiscus

A small free flowering shrub (50-80cm high x 60-70cm wide), with interesting foliage; profuse pink flowers are produced in succession from late spring through to autumn, much visited by butterflies. It grows well in full sun or a warm semi-shaded position, in climates ranging from temperate to tropical and semi arid. It requires well drained clay or sandy loams, acid to moderately alkaline pH, has low frost tolerance, and will grow in coastal sites.

Uses: Plant en masse for a showy display in open landscapes, or as a long flowering container plant for deck, patio or balcony; may also be regularly pruned for an unusual and attractive low hedge.

Maintenance: Responds well to moderate pruning by setting numerous new buds. Cut back annually in early spring to maximize seasonal flowering. Feed in early spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release fertilizer. If container grown, use best quality potting medium and do not overwater.
