Tucker Time® Dawn Bells
A low
spreading dense shrub (80cm H x 1.5 – 2.5m W) with bright
variegated foliage and plentiful carmine-pink bells throughout
the canopy from late summer to spring. A great source of
nectar for honeyeaters. Grows well in full sun or light shade,
in well drained clay loams or sandy soils, neutral to acid or
alkaline soils. Very hardy in all climates; extremely frost
hardy, and suited to coastal or inland gardens.
Uses: As Dawn Bells exhibits a natural density, it can
be readily shaped to form a low hedge in gardens of all sizes;
extremely reliable for broad utility areas such as median
strips, roundabouts and freeway plantings. Plant in shady
corners to impart a brightening effect; use amongst mixed
plantings for additional bird habitat.
Maintenance: Shape as required with light pruning in
mid spring or early summer, once flowering has ceased. Feed in
early spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled
release fertilizer.
