Callistemon
Cherry
Time™
This is
definitely one for the birds!
Flora for
Fauna for sure.
A medium weeping shrub (1.8m x 1.5m) with fine glossy leaves and bronze new growth. Vivid clear
cherry brushes flourish from spring to early summer, most attractive to honeyeaters. Suitable for
cool temperate to sub tropical climates, or semi arid with additional water. It thrives in full sun
or light shade, in moist clay or sandy soils, neutral to acid pH. Extremely frost hardy, and suited
to coastal gardens as well.
Uses: colourful hedging or a shapely specimen, stunning when grouped in broad
landscapes; useful in streetscapes, and spectacular in a large container.
Maintenance: Trim off the spent flowers regularly to encourage repeat flowering, and
prune foliage to shape. Feed with low phosphorus controlled release fertilizer in early spring or
late summer. Use best quality potting mix if planting in tubs, keep moist. In garden situations, low
water needs when established.
