Callistemon
Betka
Beauty™
A compact single- or multi-stemmed
shrub (1.2m-1.8m high x 1.2-1.5m wide) with papery bark.
Fresh light green foliage and bright red new stems display
the large, dense, brilliant red bird-attracting brushes
which flourish in spring and summer. It thrives in moist
to wet clay loams or moist sandy soils, neutral to acid pH, in climates ranging from cool temperate to sub tropical, and
semi arid (with adequate water); it loves full sun, tolerates light shade, and is frost hardy. It
may also be planted in coastal gardens as a second line shrub.

It is spectacular as a specimen, makes
a fine hedge if well clipped, and is suitable for streetscape planting or in open parkland. Regular
pruning of spent flowers will encourage ever more and denser flowering, as well as promotion of
compact growth.

Uses: plant as a specimen or in groups, around pools or for screening; in streetscapes
and open parkland.
Maintenance: remove spent flowers regularly, prune foliage to shape after flowering.
Feed with controlled release low phosphorus fertilizer in early spring or late summer.
