Dense ground hugging plants offer numerous benefits. They cover bare ground quickly, acting as a living mulch to conserve moisture and provide coolness for the roots beneath; their foliage, which is often intricate, displays an interesting ground level mosaic, and many have nectar-bearing flowers which honeyeaters find irresistible.
