Grevillea Carpet Crawl™
A spreading groundcover (40-65cm x 2-3 metres), with bronze-red deeply
divided foliage. Nectar-rich toothbrush flowers of deep purple-red with pink styles appear
throughout the year. The combination of foliage and flower provide safe habitat and feeding for
wrens, honeyeaters and other small birds. Grows well in full sun or light shade, in cool temperate
to sub tropical climates, and suits moist to well-drained clay loams or sand, neutral to slightly
acid pH. Excellent choice for coastal gardens and withstands heavy frosts as well.
Uses: excellent living mulch to conserve ground moisture; a fast growing groundcover for mass
plantings on steep slopes or banks, or a lovely curtain over vertical walls. Consider it for
courtyards or enclosed spaces where its foliage texture will add interest or contrast to paving,
stone and rock work.
Maintenance: Prune hard in early spring or late summer to initiate flushes of new growth;
feed at same time with low phosphorus controlled release fertilizer.
