Walling® Spur Flower™
Perfumed flowers of intense blue-lilac decorate this
herbaceous cottage garden selection throughout summer. Tiny native bees, exquisite and harmless, are
drawn to the pollen of each flower.
A
new cottage garden plant, perfumed in flower and foliage
A low compact herbaceous shrublet (10-20cm x 45-75cm) with aromatic lobed foliage. Intense
blue-lilac, strongly perfumed flowers extend along leafy stems in spires 30-60cm long; blooming from
early summer into mid autumn or beyond. Hardy in very dry or well drained soils, acid to slightly
alkaline pH; suited to temperate, sub tropical and semi arid climates, in full sun or light shade.
Moderately frost tolerant, and may be planted in second-line coastal situations.
Uses: bordering pathways, edging pools and ponds, and mixed amongst other cottage
garden plants. Beautiful in container or hanging basket. Flower sprays may be picked for posies;
butterflies and native bees will flock to the exquisite flowers, adding further to their value.
Maintenance: Prune lightly in late autumn once flowering is finished. Feed in early
spring or late summer with controlled release, low phosphorus fertilizer; do not over water. Low
water needs when established. Keep lightly moist if grown in container.
