Leptospermum
Starry Night™
A graceful
pendulous shrub (2 - 2.5m H x 1.8m W) with soft, fine, dark
purple foliage and purple-pink young stems. In late spring and
summer, the bronze buds open to a profusion of long-lasting
snowy flowers (30-35mm across) with pink sepals and lime-green
centres. The flowers attract butterflies, and wrens and
thornbills love to forage amongst the blossom. It grows easily
in open sun or light shade, in well drained to moist clay and
sandy loams. Hardy in cool temperate to sub tropical climates,
and will tolerate light frost and second-line coastal
conditions.

Uses: may be planted as an eye-catching specimen in a
paved courtyard, an informal screen against wall or fenceline,
or as a medium-sized hedge. Particularly beautiful when
planted beside pools and ponds, where its weeping habit is
reflected in the water.
Maintenance: Starry Night™ requires regular trimming if
hedged or if a formal appearance is desired. Light pruning may
be done in late summer after flowering. Feed in early spring
or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release
fertiliser. Minimal watering only is required when
established.
