Banksia Roller
Coaster™
A low mounding groundcover with
attractive foliage on layered branches, which can spread 1.5 - 2.5 metres across. Bright lemon
brush flowers bloom from summer to mid-winter; extremely attractive to honeyeaters, and seed is
eaten by parrots. Moderately fast growing. Best in well drained clay or sandy soils, neutral to
slightly acid or mildly alkaline pH. Loves full sun or light shade, hardy in temperate to sub tropical and semi arid
climates, thrives in dry coastal sites. Tolerates moderate frosts.
Uses: a stunning
landscape ‘statement’ plant with a beautifully sculpted trunk; looks remarkable cascading down walls
or over banks; a dramatic large container plant.

Maintenance:
only requires light trimming to control spread of branches, and to promote soft new growth. Feed in
early spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release fertilizer.
If planted into large containers, use best quality free-draining potting medium, keep moist
but do not over water.
Roller Coaster is a crowd stopper whether in flower or
not. One of the most architectural of plants, its structure is dramatic, strong and powerful;
unusual but welcome when one is seeking a sturdy groundcover which, like good wine, simply improves
with age. A plant of distinctive and remarkable character.
