| No
garden should be without the softening qualities of
climbing plants. A veranda becomes even more inviting
in summer when festooned with green and shady tendrils;
pergolas are not complete unless planted with flowering
creepers, and any wall or fence may be enhanced by well
maintained climbers. Annual
pruning after flowering is all that is necessary to
maintain health and vigour, together with low phosphorus
fertiliser in late summer or early spring.
