Mary
MacKillop
Saints
be praised.

Mary
MacKillop honoured with new plant release.
To celebrate
the life, times and legacy of Mary MacKillop, the Sisters
of St Joseph have commissioned Austraflora to
provide an appropriate Australian plant. In response, Austraflora
has selected and licensed throughout Australia and New Zealand a
plant which reflects the personal qualities of Mary MacKillop herself.
It's resilient, tough but colourful, an all-Australian character
of the earth, with a great ability to rise to the challenges of
life.

"Mary
MacKillop" (Callistemon viminalis x Callistemon "Endeavour")
is a bottlebrush of hybrid origin that has the ability to grow well
almost anywhere and in any climate. It is of medium size (2-2.5m
x l-2m) and can be grown in gardens, parklands or even in a large
tub.
Benefit
to the Sisters of St Joseph
The Sisters of St Joseph benefit financially from every Callistemon
‘Mary MacKillop’ sold, and assists their work in helping
people in need. As Mary MacKillop did herself.

About
Mary MacKillop
Mary MacKillop's achievements are a proud part of Australia's history.
She was an earthy, practical woman who, it is said, judged nobody
and blamed nobody. Throughout her magnificent struggle she was never
heard to utter a word of bitterness, and treated prince or pauper,
bishop or criminal with the same kindness, honesty and respect.
She has left an indelible mark on the fabric and future of Australia.
Because she was widely regarded as being saintly, her official cause
for canonisation was formally undertaken in Sydney in 1926. Whilst
the formal process continues to this end, Mary MacKillop has always
been and will always be known as The People's Saint.
