Consultancy
Bill’s
particular design skills have been employed in major commercial
and industrial environmental enhancement and reparation; and in
creation of broad landscape corridors on freeways and significant
construction sites.
His particular
passion is the creation of wetlands, and the development of landscapes
in conjunction with these.
“Water
adds beauty, scale and dimension to any landscape, whether a suburban
pond or a rural billabong. With water, you attract a more diverse
range of birds; plants attract insects on which many birds feed,
and important habitat is created for frogs and other animals in
which to breed. You will forever be surprised at the new events
which take place on and around water.”
In partnership
with John McCubbing, an engineer with decades of experience in water
and soils, Bill designs large scale wetland and landscape projects
for clients throughout Australia.
John
McCubbing says of their work:
“It’s
fulfilling work, whereby we combine our expertise to create practical
and attractive outcomes. Everyone benefits ~ the land, the wildlife,
and the property owners.”
A vision of
what can be achieved is essential, and Bill’s ability to create
a picture for his clients enables them to understand how a property
can develop over time.
‘Wombat
Bend’, the property in Victoria’s Yarra Valley that
he shares with his wife Sue Forrester and their three Airedale Terriers,
illustrates their joint passion for the Australian landscape and
its plants and animals.
The movie of
"Wombat Bend" (above ), considered one of the best rural
landscapes in Australia, clearly illustrates how his skill, understanding
and vision can transform a bare paddock into
paradise.
